Where the Jobs Are

According to the US Labor Department, jobless benefits claims have dropped for the first time in the past 20 weeks...a sign the economy is slowly moving in the right direction. So, if fewer people are filing for unemployment...where are the jobs? Here's some encouragement and direction from Careerbuilder.com According to a story on their site, 14% of all employers are planning on hiring this year and here are some good places to start the search. Job sectors that continue to grow include engineering, computer/IT, healthcare(15% increase in the nursing field alone) and government agencies such as the FBI(it's more than a job...it's an adventure:) ) Also, good news for you...Careerbuilder says the best places in the country to find work are in the South and in the West. Happy hunting.

3 Cheers for a Bad Economy

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, auto accident fatalities are at their lowest since 1961. Why? According to Institute President, Adrian Lund....the bad economy. Not only do they drive less, but the kinds of driving they do tend to be less risky-there's less discretionary driving." Is this one of those cases where it's so BAD, it's GOOD?

Brush, Brush, Brush...

Brush your teeth young man or you're going straight to the cardiologist. New research out this week says there is more to fear from not brushing than just cavities and frequent visits to the dentist. A study conducted at the University at Buffalo in New York found a link between poor oral hygeine and other more serious health risks. How serious? Serious as a heart attack...literally. The presence of increased periodontal pathogens(icky mouth) increases the risk of heart attack and and other types of coronary heat disease.
